Ansouis

To discover in Ansousis: The Castle, historic site, the former home of the Monument Sabran Pontevès family, originally a classical fortress, transformations (twelfth, thirteenth centuries) and numerous additions (XVII) with the elegant southern façade, will soften the rigor of the building. The groves, gardens and terraces that surround the castle of greenery to the charm of the site. The Church, which consists of a nave of three bays and a vaulted cross spaceship broken barrel. The ship, which completes a square apse flanked by two chapels, one convicted and the other turned into sacristy is perhaps a remnant of a previous building: it is noted there are many brands of jobbers (absent the nave) and various sculptural elements, gaskets and transoms decorated with geometric and plant motifs pellets extras human or animal heads, apparently reused in construction. The presence of the boundary wall has imposed a significant level of distortion between the choir (transverse vessel and apse) and the nave which probably replaced a previous smaller nave, not leaning against the walls. Extraordinary Museum, both art (paintings, ceramics, stained glass) and educational (collection of fossils, shells, furniture). Museum of Arts and Crafts Wine, 3000 read with tools and materials, including some unique viticultural and cooperage, one of the oldest presses (XVIII century), oenology objects (laboratory 1900) and viticulture old are presented.
